Privacy Policy

PlayMap is run by [BUSINESS NAME] (“PlayMap,” “we”). We’re parents too, and we collect only what we need to make PlayMap work for you. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use advertising trackers.

What we collect

• Account: your first name, email, and password (stored scrambled, so we can’t read it). If you sign in with Apple, we get the name and email Apple shares, which may be a private relay address.
• Profile (optional): your ZIP code and your kids’ age ranges (like “2–3”). We never ask for kids’ names or birthdays.
• Location (optional): if you allow it, your phone’s location is used to show nearby spots and distances. It stays on your phone. We don’t store your location or keep a history of where you’ve been.
• What you share: reviews, photos, insider tips, spot and edit suggestions, events, feedback, reports, and Featured Mom answers if you send them. We remove hidden location and camera data from photos before they’re uploaded.
• Activity in the app: things like spots you view, save, or love, searches, sign-ins, and events you say you’re going to. This helps us improve PlayMap and personalize your picks. You can turn activity tracking off anytime in Settings → Privacy & Analytics.
• Points & rewards: the points you earn, check-ins at businesses, invite codes and who joined with yours, and prizes you claim.
• Your phone: if you turn on notifications, we save a notification token and your phone’s name so we can send them. You can choose which notifications you get in Settings.
• Website: a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in. If you accept cookies, we also get anonymous page-view counts (no personal profile).

How we use it

We use your information to run PlayMap: showing spots and events near you, personalizing picks for your kids’ ages, keeping track of points and prizes, sending the notifications and emails you’ve asked for, reviewing community content, stopping fake accounts and cheating, answering your messages, and figuring out what to build next.

Who can see what

• Everyone: approved reviews, tips, photos, and events you share, shown with your first name or display name.
• Only you: your email, saved spots, folders, searches, points history, and events you’re pending review on.
• “I’m Going”: others see only how many parents are going, never who.
• Businesses: when you check in, that business sees your first name and the time. Business owners also see overall numbers (like views and saves) that don’t identify you.
• Invites: if you join with a friend’s code, she may see your first name when you join.
• The PlayMap team: a small team can see account and activity information to run the app, review content, send prizes, and help with problems.

Services we use

A few trusted companies help run PlayMap. They get only what they need to do their job:

• Supabase — accounts, database, photo storage, and account emails (like confirmation codes).
• Vercel — hosts our website; anonymous page-view counts only if you accept cookies.
• Expo, Apple & Google — deliver push notifications to your phone.
• Apple — Sign in with Apple, if you use it.
• Mapbox — shows the map, which means Mapbox sees the general area being shown.
• Airtable — where we manage spot information and Featured Mom submissions.
• Maps apps — when you tap Directions, the address is opened in Apple Maps or Google Maps.
• Email provider — for newsletters and reminder emails once we start sending them. We’ll share only your email and name for delivery.

We may share information if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a sale or merger of PlayMap (and we’d tell you first).

Your choices

• Edit your name, ZIP, and kids’ ages anytime in Profile.
• Turn off location, notifications, or activity tracking in Settings.
• Delete your account in Settings. This deletes your profile and personal information. Things you shared publicly (like an approved tip) may stay up without your name. Some records (like prizes already given out) may be kept as long as the law requires.
• Ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to fix or delete something, by emailing hello@playmapco.com. We’ll reply within 30 days.

Keeping it safe

Your information is encrypted when it travels between your phone and our servers, and access is locked down so each person can only see what they’re allowed to. No system is perfect, but we take this seriously. If something ever went wrong that affected your information, we’d tell you.

Kids

PlayMap is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or under 18 for accounts). The only information about children we ask for is age ranges, which you choose to share. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a big way, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
